Dubai International Airport is the primary international airport serving Dubai, United Arab Emirates and it is the world’s busiest airport by international passenger traffic. History of Dubai Airport
The History of Civil Aviation in Dubai started in 1937 when an air agreement was signed for a flying boat base for the aircraft of imperial airways with the rental of the base at about 440 Rupees per month and this also included the guard wages.
In the 1940’s flying from Dubai was by flying boats operated by British Overseas Airways Corporation, Operating the Horsehoe route from Southern Africa via the Persian Gulf to Sydney.

Dubai International airport was designed to function as Dubai’s primary airport. The area was chosen near Dubai, to get more passengers from the Dubai City, rather than travel to the Sharjah International Airport. The Original planned location was Jebel Ali.
The Master plan for the existing airport involved a dual terminal and one runway configuration over two phases with provisions for another two passenger terminals in the near future. The phase 1 included the construction for the first passenger terminal, the first runway. The second phase included Second runway and the third phase included the construction of a new terminal and an additional 60 new parking bays.

Dubai Airport Transit Covid-19 Guidelines
Tourists departing from Dubai.
- Passengers will need to do Covid-19 PCR Tests only if it is mandated by the country they are travelling to.
- Please check the requirements of the country you are traveling to, The travel regulations are changing regularly, You need to take Covid-19 PCR Test before you depart or another particular type of Covid-19 test specified by the destination.

Tourists traveling to Dubai
- Check if you need a visa, Depending on your nationality you can get a visa on arrival.
- For the passengers coming from Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Uganda, Vietnam, Zambia:
- A valid negative Covid-19 PCR Test certificate with a QR Code for a test conducted within 48 hours, validity should be calculated from the time the sample was collected, prior to departure from an approved health facility
- A Rapid PCR Test report with a QR Code for a test conducted at the departure airpot within six hours of departure
- Indian Nationals with a normal passport who are travelling to or from India via Dubai can obtain a visa on arrival for a maximum stay of 14 days provided.
- The visa issued by United States, United Kingdom or European Union has to be valid for a minimum of 6months
Test Exemptions
- UAE nationals are exempt from taking a Covid-19 PCR test before departing for Dubai.
- Children under the age of 12 and passengers who have a moderate or severe disability are exempt from taking Covid-19 RT-PCR Test
- When you arrive, You need to take another Covid-19 PCR test. If you take a test at the airport, You have to remain at the hotel or residence until you receive the test result
- If the test result is positive, You will be required to undergo Isolation.
- You must also download the Covid-19 DXB Smart App which is available on iOS and Android
Travelling from Dubai to Abu Dhabi
Full Vaccinated UAE Citizens, residents and tourists will no longer be required to test for Covid-19 at the border before entering Abu Dhabi. Even though if you are fully vaccinated, You will still be required to have a green status on the AI Hosn app to enter many public places.
Tourists transiting through Dubai
Transit Passengers from the countries like Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Uganda, Vietnam, Zambia must present a negative Covid-19 PCR Test Certificate for a test taken no more than 72 hours before departure
